Boiler Class Overview

Our Boiler Troubleshooting Bootcamp is a comprehensive 1-day, in-person class held at our New Jersey training facility. This hands-on course focuses entirely on a step-by-step, repeatable method for diagnosing boiler faults. Whether you are working with steam, fuel, feedwater, or control systems, you will learn to troubleshoot equipment and isolate root causes using real-world scenarios and practical techniques. You get direct experience identifying mechanical, electrical, and water-side faults using live demos, fault trees, wiring sequences, and simulator-based training.Through structured hands-on workshops, you will learn to navigate BMS alarms, verify safety interlocks, and interpret system responses. By the end of this class, you will be able to execute standard diagnostic steps, interpret meter readings, and document compliant repairs to restore boiler performance under pressure. Build real-world diagnostic skills taught by licensed professionals who bring their plant experience directly into the lab.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Step-by-step troubleshooting across boiler systems: fuel, air, water, steam, and control.
  • Understanding boiler control logic and Sequence of Operation.
  • Diagnosing combustion issues, flame failures, pilot/main ignition, and purge timing.
  • Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, BMS alarms, and IO schematics.
  • Troubleshooting feedwater and steam system faults (surging, wet steam, water level instability).
  • Identifying causes of nuisance trips, short cycling, and poor efficiency.
  • Using manuals, diagrams, and alarm history to guide diagnosis.
  • Structuring a clear response to system alarms and resets.

Who Should Attend

Our Boiler Troubleshooting Bootcamp is built for Operators, maintenance technicians, controls techs, supervisors, and new hires who need a proven approach to diagnosing boiler issues.

Class Requirements

Basic boiler operations knowledge is helpful but it is not required for this bootcamp.
